Depending on your sample-tracking needs, tubes are available blank or with alphanumeric identifiers. All tubes are available in 8x12 configuration, microplate footprint racks, enabling them to be filled or accessed with standard multichannel pipettes or utilized in robotic systems.

Latch Rack
All Thermo Scientific Matrix storage tubes are available in our patented Latch Rack. This unique innovation is loaded with features that you won't find anywhere else, such as:
A lid that locks down, so it will not come off even when dropped. The lid can also be opened on hinges (to maintain sterility by not touching the lab bench) or lifted off manually or by robotics.
Open bottom and venting around each tube that promotes faster and more consistent freezing and thawing rates, as well as easy tube identification.
Solid, one-piece base that retains its shape even at low temperatures.
Orientation features that quickly identify the front of the rack, and a cutout notch that enables rack orientation in automated systems.

Snap Rack
For users of traditional polycarbonate racks, Matrix tubes are also
available in the Snap Rack design. The Snap Rack has an open-bottom design for reading alphanumeric or 2D barcoded tubes, and is designed to hold samples securely during low-temperature storage and shipping.
Refill Carriers
Matrix storage tubes also come packaged in environmentally sensitive refill carriers that are pre-filled with 1.4 ml storage tubes to simplify the refilling and reusing of our racks.
Tube Tracking Options
Tubes are available blank or with our patented*
alphanumeric markings designating their appropriate location within a rack. If tracking of samples on a larger scale is desired, our Matrix 2D barcoded storage tubes are etched with a globally unique 2D barcode.
