Interchangeable Pipetting Heads
A variety of user-interchangeable pipetting heads are available to meet your application requires. Pipetting heads can be swapped out in under a minute with no tools, enabling the quick switch of volume ranges and number of channels. You can even change your instrument from air-displacement to positive displacement system or vice versa.
Air-Displacement Heads: For applications requiring the use of disposable pipette tips. These utilize Matrix D.A.R.T.s® (Disposable Automation Research Tips) tips and cover volume ranges of 0.5-30 µL or 5.0-300 µL in 96 configuration, and 0.5-30 µL or 1.0-100 µL in 384 configuration. These heads are ideal for applications requiring disposable tips, serial dilutions or high aspiration volumes.
Positive Displacement Heads: Available in either 96 or 384 syringe configurations with a volume range of 0.1-50 µL with stainless steel or Duraflex needles. Ideal for pipetting down to 0.1 µL, resin/bead mixtures, liquids with high vapor pressure or caustic reagents.

Automation Reagent Reservoirs
To take advantage of the PlateMate instruments’ ability to replenish reagents, we offer a complete line of automation reservoirs.
Disposable Reagent Reservoirs: Made of injection molded polypropylene, these economical, disposable automation reservoirs feature removable splash baffles that prevent liquid from sloshing out. For more details visit our Disposable Automation Reservoirs page.

Pipette Tip Wash Stations
96- or 384-channel tip stations are available for washing tips, probes or syringes. The stations quickly mount onto the instrument. A peristaltic pump supplies wash fluid while a vacuum pump removes waste fluid. An overflow sensor turns the inlet pump off when too much fluid is detected.

Serial Dilution Tip Magazines
Utilizing tip magazines, serial dilutions are possible within or between either 96 or 384 microplates. Magazines are compatible with all Matrix D.A.R.T.s tips.
Column-By-Column Tip Magazines: Accommodate one or two columns of tips for single or duplicate column-by-column serial dilutions. These magazines allow two halves of a plate to be serially diluted simultaneously—perfect for IC50 dilution applications.
Row-By-Row Tip Magazines: Accommodate rows of 12 or 24 tips for use with 96- or 384-well plates respectively for front-to-back or row-by-row serial dilutions.

Custom Microplate Adapters
Ensuring reliable tip access into 1536-well plates requires that the plate be positioned accurately in the plate nest. These adapters are required for use with specific 1536 microplates.

Linear Barcode Reader
The barcode reader can be positioned to read labels on the short or long sides of microplates. Barcode information is stored for reference or exported to other databases using ControlMate software.

Piercing Kit
Compatible with Thermo Scientific storage tubes, this kit enables the Matrix PlateMate 2x3 to pierce up to 96 sealed storage tubes simultaneously. Up to four racks can be accessed per run, allowing you to transfer solutions from one sealed tube rack to another, or to dispense to an assay plate.
An upgradeable option, the kit contains all the parts required to upgrade any Matrix PlateMate 2x3 standalone or robotic-friendly system, including the Catalyst Express robotic arm.
